episode one of bedford diaries has been watched.

conclusion: wow richard is a dick. why does no one call him that? IT'S SO FITTING. i mean, rich? come on. i hope he gets better as time goes on? I AM NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR TRUST FUND BABY DRAMA, RICH.

milo v's characters are always such a hit and miss with me. or mostly it's a miss? because i adore peter, oh peter. and then there's...everyone else, and mostly i can take or leave them, leaning towards the "leave". ahahaha ted from pathology, ahahaha. although i gotta say i feel in that case milo would have done the best he could with the material he was given. and uh, i appreciate the restraint he showed in portraying the character, so his utter douchiness was not further made intolerable by the patented milo v smirk. and i think he was adorable in opposite sex, no lie. i mean i couldn't get past him being twenty two and playing a fifteen year old, but other than that. but also speaking of MV's other roles, [livejournal.com profile] leksa linked to [livejournal.com profile] bossymarmalade's nsync/gilmore girls crossover, and really, hey. <3

on the other hand, i have yet to meet an adrian pasdar character that i didn't immediately and utterly adore. declan! how so six years old and yet so blindingly hot! profit! everyone's favorite sociopath! and poor darling caleb. i just. *chin hands*

...clearly, i have nothing important to say, so here, have a video of holmes/watson set to adam lambert's fever, which is kind of like a venn diagram of things i hate separately and yet somehow, magically, adore when put together.

Richard Thorne was exactly the kind of dickish character I tend to like. I think they pretty much failed epically at portraying him as a recovering alcoholic, but found him irresistibly adorable around Brittany Snow's character. The majority of that show is incredibly off-putting, though.

well, i've only watched episode one, i might end up liking him? if it turns out he kicks puppies in his spare time i might enjoy him, ha (i'm kidding. mostly.) i'm pretty narrowly focused on the type characters i enjoy watching, though, we might never agree on that. *g*

is brittany snow the one that jumped off the roof? so far the only one he's interacted with in ep 1 has been the brunette that was sleeping with her professor.

i'm surprisingly fine with the show itself, actually. by "fine" i mean i don't hate it i guess? i think probably because it reminds me a little of Greek, which is sorority girls and frat boys and kind of like a G-rated version of this show except i like it more because they talk about their clothes a lot and everyone is funny and their pop culture references include nsync.

Well, he eventually dates his professor's ex wife in large part to dick with said professor. So. That's pretty close to puppy-kicking for one of Milo's non evil characters. He's otherwise pretty much a woobie.

is brittany snow the one that jumped off the roof?

Yep. I really liked their chemistry together. The complicated back story they hint at there is more interesting than 90% of the rest of the show, IMO.

did she jump off the roof after sleeping with him? THAT IS HILARIOUS SORRY. ahem, most people just turn gay, brittany snow!

Are we sure that's Brittany Snow? (Yes, after I saw this post I felt inspired to watch the first two eps while *someone* was out) I don't think it is. Then again, a lot of these perky young blonde actresses look the same to me, seriously. I don't know how any of them manage to distinguish themselves amongst the crowd when they're going for a role. Er, apart from the obvious way.

Anyway, OMG, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU CM? Richard's fantastic! He's slightly snarky and a bit damaged and holy shit, he's beautiful!!! The latter is clearly the most important thing, because it pretty much blinds me to anything he does. I think maybe I feel the same about Milo's characters as you do about Adrian's? He's so pretty I can't help but fall for all of them. I freaking love that smirk of his.

The show itself is entertaining. Although I understand the sexual content was far too much for the network - they apparently censored the scripts heavily before ultimately ditching the show altogether. It's a shame it wasn't allowed to develop a bit more - I already feel sad that these characters (who do seem quite interesting) won't be fleshed out and explored to my liking in the few episodes that exist. I agree with Anansi though, Modine's character is positively repellent. His hair does get slightly better in ep 2 - the pilot was obviously filmed several months prior (Milo's hair is very S1 Peter in the second episode). One really confusing thing is that they repeat that rooftop scene between the ex-jumper and the little brother (uh, names?) in the second episode for some unknown reason. I'm not sure if the version of the pilot I watched was unaired, and that scene was cut from the one that actually screened, or if the writers really, really loved it and decided to repeat it with some minor changes so we could all appreciate it some more. Weirdness.

i am taking cadesama's word on it because i honestly can't be bothered to look it up, plus yes they really look all alike.

IDK HE IS RICH/WHITE/EMO THAT IS USUALLY WHERE I GO "HELL NO GET OFF MY SCREEN". unless they like, are prone to acts of violence and puppy kicking, i don't know. i have no sympathy for his deep and unending suffering! again, only seen ep 1! he might get better! and het, THE HAIR. nice hair is always good. sigh.

Oh, yes, the poor privileged kid thing - I can see why that would grate. In fact, that's the reason I couldn't make it beyond the first episode of Gossip Girl - all of those characters were vile and unappealing. Except for the poor kid (who I see is also in Bedford Diaries). And he was just dull.

wait, what sexual content? heh. ok, then maybe that makes the fact that the 'sexuality seminar' was SO lame a little more excusable.

yay, down with modine! he's so gross in that role.

um, i like it when milo plays snarky, sarcastic characters, too (but not so much in pathology, either). you're gonna love it! he gets all emo and (slightly) naked at one point!

Naked huh? AWESOME. I forgave a lot of Pathology because of that too. (ok, I'm lying. I actually liked it for what it was. So did my partner. Don't know what this says about either of us, really. *hides*)

I have nothing to contribute to the discussion other than I hated the TBD pilot because when that awful professor asked the class when they last had sex I felt like he was silently judging me (ahaha do you want that answer in years or decades) and then it just went downhill from there, but um, hi your icon. Hi hi. I'll just be looking at it some more.

Yeah that question was sort of invasive and "... how is this related to *sexuality*, again?" Sexuality =/= having sex. Bogus. His teaching was so lame, it was like a therapy/bragging/self-indulgent group for those kids, and kind of creepy, and ... very heteronormative, too. I hated how he was supposedly a 'maverick' professor and it's like he learned everything he knew from reading teen vogue or some shit (Yeah, I know it's fiction, but it was just so silly).

[livejournal.com profile] miss_miso, it means your partner likes milo's ass! What else?

Ha, yes, she did! Although, admittedly, it wasn't the first time they'd had sex? It sort of makes him a woobie, too, since it was the time they'd had sex where he realized he loved her. And then she tries to kill herself. :(

Yeah, that show, heh, I actually found most of the characters unlikeable but none more so than the Modine character. Ewwww, yuck I hate that guy -- both the character and the actor (at least in this show).

I guess Richard *was* a dick (er, he's so cute that I might have forgotten to notice!). The only character I found likeable, really, was Zoe, the 'slutty' one :D She gets awesomer! Richard gets better too. I bet you will end up agreeing with me about 4-5 eps in ;)

an nsnyc/GG crossover? I must check this out later.

You know, I agree about Adrian's characters. AWWWW Caleb!

hahaha! WHY DO YOU HATE MATTHEW MODINE WHAT HAS HE DONE TO YOU! i have some fondness towards him but i can't remember from WHERE? just that i see him and i'm like "matthew modine yay!" perhaps he was in a john hughes movie at some point. i feel so so so fond of eric stolz just because he was in "some kind of wonderful" that i watched "fly 2", more than once even.

he is so cute omg. i kept telling co-journaller while skimming through the file "he is so pretty why is he SO PRETTY!!!" which one is zoe, sorry, the one that hit on that boy and caused him to ahaha break up with his extremely insecure girlfriend?

Richard gets better too.

like i told cadesama, if he kicks puppies eventually I MIGHT LIKE HIM.

Maybe I'm unfair because I haven't seen Modine in anything else I can remember but in this show, ugh. Sorry. But his character is so smirky and sleazy and whiny and petty and entitled, I couldn't even look at him. And the worst thing is that he was a bad professor. He was supposedly teaching a seminar on sexuality? And it was such a wasted opportunity! Sexuality is so interesting but he was basically going 'Did you know that sometimes people have heterosexual sex? Let's talk about that on a very basic level because clearly you're all 12 and can't engage in real critical thought.'

Anyway, maybe part of my resentment comes from the fact that he slightly resembles Aaron Eckhart (who, constrastingly, I love).

Um yeah I think that's Zoe! She's the 'sassy Latina'. I thought that she and RIchard had nice chemistry.

co-journaller was just marvelling at the awfulness of his hair, we couldn't pay attention to much else. i told her it's that color because matthew modine is like, ninety, i've been seeing him on my tv since i was a little kid. oh was that what was going on? i was mostly like "...oh people talking where is MILO oh there he is"

oh i like her already! \o/ i hope she punches him in the face, but i'm guessing not?

Oh I wish she would too. And then Richard would *like* it, and they'd have hot sex, and then they'd both get over their silly hangups and all would be well.
