That would be the co-journaller and me watching the ST:TOS episode #3, Mudd's Women (oh God the title alone), actually managing to form a semi-coherent thought before falling back into an endless stream of "oh my god why is this happening" and wordless incredulity. I mean, you kind of want to laugh at how incredibly offensive the entire thing is, but it's actually not really very funny?

Other things I choose to be offended by this week: all the overly sexual child abuse prompts over at the Kink Meme (Jim/Frank, people? Really?), women who write Uhura as a cunt just so Jim and his rapist Spock can get together, people who then read all eight chapters of that story despite all the careful warnings and leave angry comments as if they now didn't have to comment on every *other* fic that shoves aside Uhura to get a better look at the blond hero, the entire genre of "slave fic", the male gaze, people who needlessly crowd my space in checkout lines, the fact that I have to send back the third book from Amazon in the past month because of shoddy quality, do they store their merchandise in filthy crates, what is this shit?

Things that make me happy: the fact that Majel Barrett-Roddenberry appeared in every single Star Trek series (namely as Number One, Nurse Chapel, the computer, and Deanna Troi's hot, hot Mom ♥♥♥), fic about Spock Prime and how heartbroken and entirely badass he is, Rainald Grebe live in three days, people who make me laugh uncontrollably and/or write me porn in chat, icecream, shower sex.

ETA: ONE MORE THING. Drop Dead Diva - such an iffy premise, such an awesome show. It easily passes the Bechdel Test (in fact, almost all the major characters happen to be women), the second-loveliest character on the show who you first think is supposed to be the superficial cliché bimbo turns out to be a *human being* who is *lovely* and kind and goofy, and the main character is AMAZING. After the first couple of episodes where you think, oh yes, being stuck in this body sucks for you Deb, cry me a river, she realizes that, fuck this shit, she's awesome, and proceeds to kick so much ass as Jane!Deb you just kind of want to jump and down with glee, but maybe that's just us. We spend a lot of the show going "oh Jeb <3" (PS. WHERE THE FUCK IS FRED.)

We actually wanted to stop watching Pathfinder about 20 minutes in. Oh god, what a terrible, terrible waste of production dollars. I'm still not sure what message it was trying to convey, if any at all, but I'm sure it would have been a highly iffy one about noble Natives rescued by the White Man something something something. I don't even know.

And Karl wasn't even ripped enough to really pull off the half-nakedness, I'm sorry. (IT WAS A TERRIBLE MOVIE.)
